first
learned
to
play
acoustic
guitar
in
the
idyllic
environment
of a
North
Carolina
summer
camp.
He
cut
his
musical
teeth
on
John
Denver,
James
Taylor,
and
Jackson
Brown,
and
generally
sticks
to
simple songs
with
humor
or
interesting
story
lines.
Jim
has
a
minor
in
performing
arts
from
Clemson
University,
and
considers
himself
more
of
a
performance
artist
than
serious
guitarist.
“I
use
the
guitar
to
provide
the
minimum
of
accompaniment
to
get
through
the
song,
rather
than
driving
the
song
with
the
instrument.”
His
all
time
favorite
musician
is
David
Wilcox,
who
utilizes
alternate
tunings
for
a
unique
sound
combined
with
lyrics
that
can
evoke
powerful
emotion.
Jim
present
repertoire
includes
popular,
folk
and
country
songs.
