The air
was a bit humid yet as the artist began arriving in
Olde Town Conyers. One by one with their instruments
in tow Robinson Street was soon a buzz of excitement
in anticipation of the Summer Shootout Finale'.
Each
artist ready to give it their best in hopes of
impressing the judges. At 7:15 Five Semi-Finalist
were called to the judges table to draw for their
performing position. Each given the opportunity to
perform two songs. At the conclusion of the
semi-finalist Parks McIntosh was chosen by the
judges to enter the Grand-Finale lineup. The crowd,
on their feet and ready to choose their Artist made
it very tough. It was very close however finally
determined after two run offs that Mathew Wilcox
received the crowds choice award to move to the
finals.
In all
ten Artist were about to kick off the Grand Finale,
each performing three songs. The judges were seated
front and center. Our gratitude goes out to Karen
Burgess, Rick Cape and Joey Figar for the unselfish
donation of their time to be with us. Their
knowledge of the music and entertainment business as
a whole gave us great satisfaction in knowing that
the judging of the Summer Shootout was in good
hands.
The mood was very serious
throughout the performances. It was 11:20 pm when
the last artist left the stage and the judges
retired to chambers to make the final decisions. It
was about twenty five minutes before the gavel
sounded and the sealed envelopes were handed to Walt
Sammons (owner of the Celtic Tavern) and Greg Burch,
Eleven Mile Music Co. The room, as usual was silent.
Walt opened the second place envelope, Adam
Ryan was announced runner up. The anticipation grew
heavily in the last few moments as Walt opened and
handed the first place envelope to Greg, you could
feel the emotion as the artist awaited the name.
Parks McIntosh was voted by the judges to be the
2007 Eleven Mile Music Co. Summer Shootout Champion.
The crowd went wild, Parks family was all a bust
with excitement, Parks himself seemed stunned as he
approached the stage to collect the $509.10 first
place prize. Adam Ryan won $92.00 for second and
also received a $100.00 Gift certificate for Hard
Rock Cafe.
We would like to thank all the
artist who performed, Kenyon Mills, Mathew Wilcox,
Connor Pledger, Zach Best, Larry Hester, Jonathan
Thomas, Tom Sisson & Diane Mann, Steve Buck &
Anthony Mancini, Parks McIntosh and Adam Ryan. God
Bless and thanks to you all for your continued
support of the Open Mic at The Celtic which is in
it's seventh year running this year.
Everyone was a winner in my opinion. I would also
like to thank all the family and friends of the
artist as they are so supportive week after week.
We have
been fortunate to see so many who have grown in
their musical ability and so many that work very
hard to improve their skill. We are there as much to
assist the artist in any way we can and look forward
to seeing you all soon.
We
would like to thank Patrick Best and the Sunday
paper (www.sundaypaper.com)
for their donation of the Hard Rock Cafe gift
certificate awarded to second place Adam Ryan as
well as the Brave Tickets and Wizard of Oz tickets
that were given away as door prizes. Thanks for your
continued support
Last

their continued support of the local artist and

feels like home to many of us in the local music
community.

The Judges,
Thanks is simply not enough when it comes to the
judges. It often seems a thankless job, But someone
has to do it and what an excellent job they did. I had
so much confidence in the judges, with their
background and experience I knew we were on good
hands. They took the job very seriously from the
moment they entered the Celtic Tavern. They all graciously gave
their time to take on the task of listening and
judging the artist taking time to seriously critique
each performance and collectively determine based on
true talent who would be he evenings winners. There
was much talk among the judges as to how well everyone
performed. But as in any contest they had to narrow it
down to two and that they did |
