 Learn Why...

 My Inspiration

As a young boy I remember sitting with my granddad as he played an old Dobro, on his knee with a steel bar, he called it Hawaiian guitar.  I could not wait to get my first guitar and learn to play, which I did at the age of eight and learned enough to play along with my Granddad which I did often.  From those early days with my granddad to today, my love for music is stronger than ever.

I have come to enjoy song writing a great deal.  My granddad and my children, Brett, Jeff and Britni have all inspired my writings.  The first song I wrote in 1991 "This Old Guitar" is about my Granddad, his struggle with Alzheimer's disease and the old Dobro he played.  I have since written many more and have meet a few great songwriters along the way. I believe there is a need for exposure as well as resource availability for those who wish to venture as far as they can in the world of music.

In 2001 I accidentally stopped by a local pub in Conyers Georgia where they were having an "Open Mic" show. I had never played outside the comfort of my own home until that Wednesday night at a place called the Celtic Tavern . The Open Mic at that time was Hosted by Russ Winters and Mike Edge,  they put on a great show and were actually able to convince me to get up and sing one, even though it took me three weeks to get nerve enough to finish a whole song. ( Yes three weeks) They put up with me and over the years I have come to respect these two guys for their patience and belief in others. They knew that there was a lot of talent not being heard and Open Mic is a great outlet for that talent. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned performer an outlet such as Open Mic is a great place to showcase your talent and do what you love to do.

These experiences have led me to realize that there is some great musical talent out there that deserves to be heard.

 My Vision

My Vision being, whether your preference is Pop, Rock, Country, Classical, whatever it may be, Eleven Mile Music Co. hopes to be an outlet for talent by way of Open Mic, The Performers Round, Booking performances at local venues, providing the necessary resources connected to the music industry. We are in the process of building a recording studio that will be able to provide recording of Demo's for promotional purposes or simply a CD recording for your personal use.  I would like to see Eleven Mile Music Co. become a place where talent can find what it needs to grow or to help your talent be noticed by those that can make a difference. Song writers, performers, composers, musicians alike will be able to gain access to resources relative to the music industry and through our growing network find their place in the music world.

Thanks for checking out our site.

Hope to hear from you soon, or better yet, See you in person at our Open Mic in Old Town Conyers at The infamous Celtic Tavern!

By the way, Many people have asked me where the name Eleven Mile Music came from, this again goes back to Granddad, I was born and raised in Western New York State close to the Pennsylvania line just down the road from my Granddad's farm, the road leading there is called THE ELEVEN MILE ROAD, my grandmother still lives there and I refer to the farm as my piece of heaven on earth and I believe music is the road to the heart and soul.

See You Around
